Matthew 19:12

12For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.

Is this verse condoning the act of homosexuality? Strange right...one part of the Bible were condemning this act & this verse!!

How are you going to resolve that verse with this verse?
Deuteronomy 23
1 If a man’s testicles are crushed or his penis is cut off, he may not be admitted to the assembly of the Lord.

anyway.. just curious, how did you come to the conclusion that eunuchs are homosexuals? Eunuch meant literal eunuchs...

BTW... this is the context of Matthew 19... the Eunuchs here is more likely about singlehood

1When Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went into the region of Judea to the other side of the Jordan. 2Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.
3Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"

4"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,'[a] 5and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'[b]? 6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

7"Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?"

8Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."

10The disciples said to him, "If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry."

11Jesus replied, "Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. 12For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage[c]because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it."

To understand Deuteronomy 23, can you explain why is a man's testiicles crush or his penis cut off in the first place. Izit some kind of ritual or for religious purposes?

Let's assume that it is cut off not in his own will, maybe it happen as in accident, war or for those that are working in the palaces where the kings have many wives. This line "...he may not be admitted to the assembly of the Lord." so I can take that they are not welcome to have fellowship among "Christian" of those times. If this line is to be applied today, then I guess salvation will not be available to these group of people anymore. They can rot in hell

To reply your question, "12For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men" from this verse my guess is it is either they were born that way or develop that kind of way of life by men.

You wrote "the Eunuchs here is more likely about singlehood", how can a man born expecting to be single? Can he knows what he wants in life the day he was born? On one hand the Bible preaches that it's not good for a man to remain single & here it is contradicting itself again. someone once told me we should read the Bible the way it is, not as something which needs some further interpretation from other sources. Why isn't the Bible reveal to us the way it is written?
martianunlimited6. RE: Did I just read wrongly this verse in the Bible? | 2007-05-23 20:15:30
actually... the Bible said... it's not good for man to be alone....(remember Adam was the only human being on that planet.... (i am not going to discuss the Genesis question here)) doesn't neccessarily meaning it's not good for man to not be married .... but then again, i am one of the few who believe that apostle paul was married, and when he said about singlehood, he said it as a widower and not an unmarried person.

regarding born eunuchs.... i don't know... maybe it's a bad balance between estrogen and testerones? I don't really put much thought to the issue of singlehood, because i am currently single not by choice but by design
but my stand... any society or religious order that preaches singlehood will be doomed to obscurity in less than 10 generations.

I will leave Jack to give his comment on interpreting the Bible, I am no authority in doing that, and as you can probably see, I don't really inteprete things as how other people will

Oops... missed out deuteronomy 23... do read on to the end to see who else is not eligible for the assembly of the Lord.... then think for yourself what is the assembly of the Lord
